This page explains what information Comfort Utility, LLC collects, why, and who helps us handle it. Questions and requests go to wes@comfortutility.com.
When you send a request
- The details you enter (name, email address, ZIP code, number of systems and any message) are emailed to us through our email provider and kept in our business mailbox. The website does not store them in a database.
- We use them to respond to your request.
- To limit abuse, the website keeps a short-lived count of requests tied to a one-way, keyed fingerprint of your IP address, not the address itself.
Technical logs
Like most websites, our web server records request logs, including IP address, time, the page requested and browser details, for security and troubleshooting. Monitoring devices connect to our servers over the internet, and the address they connect from is logged too.
If you become a customer
To provide the service, we keep:
- your name, email address and phone number, and your notification preferences;
- the address of the monitored property;
- records of your HVAC equipment, such as make, model and serial numbers, and photos taken during installation;
- operating data from the installed monitoring equipment, such as temperatures, thermostat call signals, electrical measurements and the equipment's own status.
Your Wi-Fi network name and password are entered on the monitoring device during installation and stored on that device. We receive the device's Wi-Fi signal strength, not your network name or password.
How we use information
- to answer requests and confirm availability and compatibility;
- to install, operate and support the monitoring;
- to review potential issues and send notifications and reports by email or text, according to your preference;
- to keep billing and account records;
- to keep the service secure and working.
Text messages are currently sent individually by a person from our phone, not by an automated messaging service.
Service providers
We use service providers to run the service, including:
- Vultr, for server hosting;
- Resend, for sending email;
- Microsoft 365, for our business email;
- Backblaze, for backups;
- OpenAI, to help read equipment nameplates and plan wiring from photos taken during installation.
We don't sell data
Comfort Utility does not sell personal information or the data from your monitoring equipment.
Cookies
This website sets only the cookies it needs to work: a security token that protects the request form, and a one-time cookie that shows your confirmation after sending. It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
